So what'll it be?
Hey Billmon!
How about looking into the heat Warren Buffett is taking for being "a traitor to his class." He's doing something right if Rush is blathering about him.
Add in Bill Gates, Sr.... Actually, I was thinking if Bill Gates, Jr also came out against Bush and his policies that might also help.
So, here is a question from Deep dark: what does Bush have to hide? What do we do to find out? Billmon, can you put your mind to this?

We should step back a little from all this kvetching about the AWOL stuff and its concomitants, not because it is not important, but because it is in the wrong place.
Think back to Watergate. What did the WAPO have to go through to get that story? What did they have to go through to publish that story? Back then, the suggestion that the POTUS could have done something as heinous as bugging his opponents or approving a dirty tricks team was a major hurdle. They were up against the inertia that kept the press from reporting on Johnston's predilection for typists or Kennedy's liaisons. [How come Dems go for sex and Repugs go for money? Dissertation waiting here.]
But the Shrub does so much stuff in the public domain that should be a valid target and yet it is not. He lies about everything, he invades countries, lays waste the land, the economy and the constitution in the full light of day and nothing happens.
Why is that? I'm not a yank, I don't live there, I don't get it. It may be because he literally has no shame and no memory and no sense of the future, he lives in a blissful, monomaniacal present and carries an aura that makes it impossible to get him to even think outside that envelope. Maybe its culutural and I just have no idea about that.
But what I do get is that there are some things he really doesn't want anyone to know about and they are locked away in pappy's library, he is changing the right to open presidential documents so you, the people, wont ever find out what he has done. That's where the keys are.
What has he got to hide? He gives Ashcroft the right to pry into everyone else's life down the the smell of their socks, but he locks away every paper he ever signed as Governor of Texas and every document detailing his participation in Harken and other businesses.
He invades a country and throws it to the wolves and doesn't bat an eye; but he wont let you see his records. Somewhere in there is a vile thing.

ojsbuddy - thanks for posting the Buffett link - So, that's what has Rush on a new warpath. Wonder if he's noticed it would take an awful lot of GWB's millionaires to equal the worth of Buffett.
Many people and business want to operate just like Buffett, but without the thorough up front analysis, not selecting highly qualified people and letting them run operations without intervention from headquarters, and not making decisions for the long-term. And I'm sure he doesn't make his managers spend weeks every year filling out 57 column, business planning, template worksheets that are then rejected because income projections are too low.
Wage Slave,
Here's something I blogged about Buffett if you're interested.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of a funnier scenario than anyone in the entire Bush cabal trying to take on Warren Buffett on economic matters. Buffett has an astonishing lifetime track record of making things grow, Bush manages to kill about whatever he touches.
Billmon, isn't this in your corner?
Boy, Billmon, I'm always glad when you have an open bar on Thursdays 'cause that's the day Ms. Pat takes her war protest signs out to the local park. It's always nice to drop in here afterwards to decompress.
Tonight was pretty low key ... only ONE heckler (some guy in a company truck, the idiot). And there was a slight increase in vee-signs and positive horn honks over last week. More people are actually slowing down to READ our signs. So I guess that is a good sign.
I just hope we can keep up some level of awareness that there are many, many of us who are mightily angry about our government's policies (foreign and otherwise). Seeing us out at the park consistently, week after week, has to encourage at least some folks to wake up and do some thinking (I sincerely hope).
Or maybe I'm just an optimist ...

Hang in there Ms. Pat -- I'm rooting for you.
Don't know how whiskey drinkers might grok this,
but the controversial Iraqi salam pax
blogger has apparently survived the "Bombing of Baghdad" and has resumed posting at his site.
There is a lot of discussion around the net about this site, and it's authenticity. I have attempted to email salam pax and get some clarifications, but even getting a link in and out of Iraq seems a tenuous business at best.
Still, that said, I think this site deserves a look for those curious minds...
