Bush Press Secretary Fleischer Resigns

WASHINGTON - White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, the public face of the Bush administration through two wars and a terrorist attack, said Monday he will resign in July to enter the private sector.

"I've decided my time has come to leave the White House," Fleischer said in a telephone interview.

The spokesman clashed at times with the White House press corps and had an uneasy relationship with some senior Bush aides, but he said the departure was his idea. He notified Bush of his decision Friday. The president ended the conversation "by kissing me on the head," the spokesman said.

A kiss on the head? After the kind of job he did, I would think Ari deserves a little more than that. At least a kiss on the lips, and maybe a little tongue action:

The real question, of course, is where in the "private sector," Fleischer will land.

Suggestions, anyone?

Enron & Worldcom are probably looking for some "good" people.

Hell, MSGOP will probably give him a show.

His show would be called "To Tell the Truth."

What a thankless job. Spinning lies and obfuscations to cover for a lying, deceiving bunch of politicos. At least he had a docile, castrated press to work with.

Does the Viceroy of Iraq need a new Minister of Truth?

"In related news, Ari and former Iraq Information Minister Mohammed "Baghdad Bob" Saeed Al-Sahaf are teaming up to cohost "The Spin Cycle", a new Fox News prime time program that will replace Bill O'Reilly, who is moving to the 2:00 AM slot to compete with MSNBC's Michael Savage and paranormal radio phenom Art Bell.

Ari and Baghdad Bob have also entered into a joint venture, "Ministry of Truth Partners, LLC", which will consult with Republican candidates during the 2004 elections."

BILLMON--I read where he is actually going to work with Dub's election campaign before "going into the private sector". How fitting; The Weasel gets a job where lying--at least to Repubs--is all part of a day's work!

The only thing missing was Ann Coulter on her kness groping their glands.

TTFN, Ari baby. You walked the fine line between tergiversation and persiflage with a fitting awkwardeness. Charitably, I'll call it a latent conscience.

Though some would call you a cheap flack, I would like to remind them that you were a well paid flack. There's a difference.

Brains, must eat brains. Yes. He's a revenant.

A couple of days ago somebody threatened to take my copy of Photoshop away from me. So I figure it's a case of "use it or lose it."

My gut reaction to hearing the AF resignation news: "It's going to hit the fan and he knows it."

Perhaps Ari sees the handwriting on the wall, much as George Stephonopolous seemed to have.

Mayber you're right, Vachon.......
