. . . Shouldn't throw stones?
Rice Stokes Up U.S. Pressure on Iran
BERLIN (Reuters) - U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice on Friday backed recent pro-democracy protests in Iran in comments that stoked a U.S. campaign of criticism of Iran's rulers. In a guest commentary for Germany's Die Welt newspaper, Rice . . . said the Iranian government had allowed a "small unelected clique" to override the will of the people.
It's time to move on, Condi.
The left's swift response to Condi or anyone from Bushco ramping up of rhetoric towards Iran should be "Surely, you've lost credibility on Iraq.." as the preface to each and every sentence. That's how the GOP does it--they simply keep repeating whatever it is--"WMD/Saddam is in league with Osama" until it's considered the "truth".
That whole article had the same themes that they used in the lead up to the Iraq war, terrorist ties and mention of al quaeda, nuclear threat, lack of democracy. I even read in the Scotsman where Mr. Blair was going to be talking to France and Germany about getting their support for pressure against Iran for his best pal Bush.
Are they reading these steps from a book perhaps called How to Invade a Sovereign Country for Dummies? It is deja Vu all over, except for needing to change one letter Ira(q) vs, Ira(n).
Please let the election of 2000 go (although I voted for Gore and think he was robbed).
As near as we can ever tell, it was 50/50. Bush was not elected by a "small unelected clique". And don't tell me that he was elected by the Supreme Court. If the popular & electoral votes weren't 50/50 it never would have gone to the Supreme Court.
It's time to move on, billmon, to 2004.
wow....blair trying to convince france and germany that "hey, okay, okay, iraq was and is a clusterfuck failure, but iran, iran, hey, this time iran will be the cakewalk, and this time we will find WMDs and terrorist links."
and he's doing this while he's in desperate hot-water. and bush ditto.
are they out of their minds or are they hoping that if they can get a war going on the public will rally around them yet again.
file that under wishful fucking thinking.
are they out of their minds or are they hoping that if they can get a war going on the public will rally around them yet again.
The problem is that Iran really does seem to be developing the capability to produce nuclear weapons -- while remaining just inside the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Well all remember what happened to the boy who crief wolf just once too often . ..
To be fair to Tony Blair, members of the UK govt have said that they would not join any US military action against Iran.
You know, I would have found it much easier to let go of the 2000 election had W ever come out and acknowledge that more people voted for the other guy. He pretends that did not happen, and he acts like he got some kind of mandate.
whether or not W was elected or selected, nevertheless a "small unelected clique" DOES rule in this country now. Think Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Perle, Feith, et al.
BAM. I just wanna know why there isn't a huge mea culpa for publishing Woolsey.
Ay carumba:personally I'll never "move on" from the 2000 election--I watched openmouthed while our democracy got flushed. Hmm..interestingly enough, the same folks who want us to move on from the election are the same ones still foaming at the mouth about whitewater, monica, etc. There are certain watershed Supreme Court decisions which have irrevocably changed/shaped the direction of this country :Dred Scott decision, Plessy vs. Ferguson, Brown vs Board of Education, and yes--Gore vs. Bush. Get over it?! Please. I don't think so. And the events since Bush's election (Ken "Kennyboy" Lay, Halliburton contracts, Patriot Act, WMDGate) only underscore corruption and illegality of Bushco evident from word one, day one.
I believe Bush and Blair that Iran has a WMD program for a very basic reason; it is in Iran's best interest to get nukes as fast as possible to deter the crazy lunatics next door to them.
Fester
Arrrgh! Will someone get this woman a hairdresser?
Happy Birthday Aung San Suu Kyi!
remember when condi accused saddam of plagarism?
lol
what is it with their hard-on for democracy this year?
they never cared about it back in 2000.
i think irony is lost on these folks, billmon.
